2019 NPPA Legislative Day

NPPA members descended on the State Capitol and engaged state senators at the 4th annual Legislative Day in February. Events included a dinner with legislators serving on the Natural Resources Committee, breakfast with legislators and staff, and a meeting with Lt. Governor Mike Foley in the Governor's Hearing Room.

Members of the NPPA board hosted four senators serving on the Natural Resources Committee, including Chairman Dan Hughes, for dinner in February. The conversation allowed NPPA board members to convey their concerns relating to the industry and for the members of the Committee to give an update on legislation they are working on this session.

The following morning, NPPA members attended a breakfast with fourteen state senators to further the conversations from the night before. Each senator left breakfast with two handouts containing facts about the oil and gas industry’s positive impact on jobs production and local economies in the state of Nebraska. Additionally, senators received a letter from NPPA President Leon Rodak highlighting the benefits the industry provides to Nebraska. Senators who did not attend the breakfast were hand-delivered a packet as well.

In addition to meeting with members of the Nebraska Legislature, NPPA members heard from Lt. Governor Mike Foley. He highlighted Governor Pete Ricketts’ plan to renew Nebraska’s economy. The Ricketts plan consists of four pillars aimed at stimulating job creation, cutting regulation, and promoting Nebraska.
